Summer Holiday in Italy

What would be a summer without traveling and holiday? However, finding a suitable location is not always easy. We want to support you in this year’s choice with our suggestion for a perfect summer holiday location – Italy. Let’s take a journey together through the beautiful spots of the Southern-European country! 🇮🇹 ✈️

1. Cinque Terre

Italy is one of Europe’s southernmost countries and especially in the summer months Italy offers several spots for a perfect holiday. The country has a very long coastline on the Mediterranean sea with numerous beautiful beaches. One of our favourite spots on the coast is the picturesque landscape of Cinque Terre. The 5 old fisher villages Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore offer unforgettable hiking trails and ocean views. The colorful houses are iconic, the harbors are filled with traditional fishing boats and each of the 5 towns’ steep terraces offer magnificent scenes. Don’t forget to order the region’s famous pasta sauce, Pesto, in one of the delicious restaurants and try the fresh local fish in an Italian Trattoria!

2. Italian Alps – Dolomites

Italy offers way more than beautiful beaches and cities. The northern part of the country is characterized by high mountains and beautiful hiking trails. Among our favourite areas in the Italian mountains are the Dolomites. The extraordinary landscape is characterized by jagged peaks and ridges as well as scenic valleys in between. The mountainous regions in Italy are especially for travelers who want to seek adventure during their summer holiday. Mountain-biking, climbing, base jumping, and paragliding are just a few examples of the numerous opportunities there. You should also bring your bicycle for a beautiful tour to idyllic villages where you find traditional mountain delicacies like Speck and Knödel.

3. Rome

Italy is also very well known for its cultural heritage and delicious cuisine. One of the places where you can experience both together is Italy’s capital – the historic city of Rome. It is located in the central portion of the Italian peninsula directly on the Tiber river. Rome is the political center of Italy nowadays and still offers thousands of special artefacts and well-preserved churches from the ancient empire. Once in Rome for a summer holiday you need to visit the Colosseum, the Pantheon, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Trevi Fountain, and also the Roman Forum. Especially for travelers who are in the hunt for visiting several countries on a single trip Rome is a must. The reason is the Vatican city – the world’s smallest country surrounded by Rome.

4. Venice

Venice is a something you don’t want to miss during your summer holiday in Italy. Every travel enthusiast has heard about the unique city with no roads and just canals. The city is spiked with Renaissance and Gothic architecture as well as beautiful artwork. We strongly recommend to just wonder around in Venice, cross as many bridges as possible and discover hidden squares where you can get an insight into the vibrant city life. A refreshing drink on the city’s main square Plazza San Marco to enjoy the views over the nicely colored houses is a must. Also very popular for Venice are the enjoyable canal tours in the famous Gondolas. So have you booked your summer holiday to Italy yet?
