Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the USA. So this year it will be on November 28, 2019.
But what is it all about? Thanksgiving was once a harvest festival but is now a big annual celebrated public holiday. In New York City, there is even a Thanksgiving Day parade every year through the bustling streets. Thanksgiving has first been mentioned back in 1620 when the Pilgrims landed on American soil and settled in an area close to what is Boston today.
Since then, Thanksgiving has turned into a very important tradition for the Americans and is celebrated with lots of food and wine.
Usually, friends and families come together and have an incredibly huge and delicious traditional Thanksgiving menu. A must: the roasted turkey. But also, stuffing, cornbread, green bean casserole, roasted sweet potato casserole, and winter vegetables must not be missed.
And as if this isn’t enough yet, pumpkin pie or pecan pie are following for dessert. Mouthwatering, isn’t it?
