The small town of Östersund is located in Jämtland in the middle of Sweden. It was founded in 1786 and was a lucrative trading center back then. Even though it is promoted as Winter City due to the possibility of doing a variety of winter outdoor activities it is equally beautiful in summer.
The small town with approx. 50,000 inhabitants are the perfect destination for a relaxing vacation at the lakeside. Since it is located at the shores of the Storsjön you can go for a dip after strolling around in the cozy center. Afterward many terrace bars and Cafés invite for a delicious “kanelbulle” and an iced coffee. It is also described as “city of gastronomy” due to the many incredibly good restaurants.
